The Desert Colossus :: Compendium of Hyrule :: Gerudo%20Desert Gerudo Desert

The Gerudo Desert is the desert in the western part of Hyrule in Twilight Princess. In the Wii version, it is in the east, however.

The Gerduo Desert is an empty and baren wasteland with no life forms other than some PeaHats?, a monster that jumps out of the sand and attacks any moving object, Moblins and boars used for the Molbins transportation. The most notable geographical feature of the Gerudo Desert is the Gerudo Mesa, a small mesa in the southwestern (southeastern in the Wii version) part of the desert. On top of the mesa is the teleported part of th Bridge of Eldin, which by using Midna one can take back to its original location.

Underneath the bridge is the Cave of Ordeals, a giant underground cave which holds the Great Fairy and an extremely large amount of monsters. Some of the monsters inside include Poes, Moblins, Darknuts, and Keese. Every time one makes it so far in the Cave, fairies will be sent to on of the springs of the Four Beasts. Much of the Cave can also only be reached by using an item from a dungeon from Arbiter's Grounds to City in the Sky. If one cannot go that far yet, the Great Fairy can teleport Link back to the surface, more specifically one of the springs.

The Gerudo Desert is also the home to a very large pack of Moblins, who destroyed the Theive's Hideout (Theoretcially, Ganondorf ordered them to do it for revenge on the Gerudos) and took over the area in front of Arbiter's Grounds, which is why there are now ruins in that area. Link must breach this fortress and defeat King Bulblin in order to gain access to Arbiter's Grounds.

The main location in the Gerudo Desert, however, is Arbiter's Grounds. Arbiter's Grounds was once a mighty underground prison used to lock up captured criminals, such as Ganon. Today, however, the former prison has turned into a house of the undead. It is one of the dungeons in Twilight Princess and has an undead and desert theme.

Behind, and above, Arbiter's Grounds is a large colisseum called the Mirror Chamber. The Mirror Chamber houses the Mirror of Twilight, the only way to access the Twilight Realm. Recently, the Mirror of Twilight has been broken by Zant, although Link and Midna fixed all the pieces. The ghosts of the former sages reside in the Mirror Chamber.
